The Centurion Art Association | Centurion Kunsvereniging (CAA) participates in as well as host numerous activities and workshops throughout the year.

A group of artists from Centurion Art Association (CAA) is reaching out to the youth in Olieven on a monthly basis since Feb 2022. Tshwane Arts and Culture Department sponsored the initial funds for materials to set this up.

Some Olieven community ladies got involved and we worked out a program to discover biblical principles through Discovery Bible study and Good News Clubs for the younger ones, to teach the kids some life skills through interaction in small groups while practising the art lessons. In the small groups the kids have opportunity to interact with one another and with the adult facilitators who provide support where needed. These connections are being set forth on a weekly basis by some facilitators in Olieven.

Currently we have about 50 students coming to the Art/DBS workshops.

The kids had been taken on outings that gave them exposure to Art Exhibitions by professional artists at the Centurion Gallery and the ‘big world’ of Art. We are working towards hosting their own exhibition in Olievenoutbosch.

We envision that the artists and faciliators in Olieven, will eventually take this initiative on as their own, to nurture children’s natural creativity and lay a foundation of integrity, selfworth and respect for God, creation and people.

Maximum Talent evening held on 14 April 2023.

Maximum Talent is an initiative that was launched 7 years ago, providing a platform for people of different cultures and ages to share and develop their various talents (e.g. singing, dancing, poetry etc. ) in a relaxed atmosphere. Some of our first participants are now sought after performing artists. Having had small beginnings in different venues, the Maximum Talent Events are now being held at the SPEKTRA Art Gallery in Lyttelton (previously Centurion Art Gallery).

Centurion Art Association (CAA) was invited by Mr Matome Mojele to join an initiative by Bethesda Revival church in Laudium, 27 27th of June 2023 to present some art exercises at their holiday club for kids. About six of us went, taking along with various of arts and crafts material and numerous ideas for the different age groups.

They came into the venue in their age groups and made self portraits decorated uniquely by drawing, stickers and other items. Made fridge magnets, did water painting and made bracelets (yes, even the boys would not miss out on this).

The kids, and us, had lots of fun and excitement!
